Writer. Psychologist. Filmmaker. Educator. And much, much more.
Dedicated to the messy, beautiful business of being human.

Regan Michelle Humphrey is a nonbinary writer, psychologist, filmmaker, educator, and interdisciplinary creative whose work lives at the crossroads of story and soul.
A novelist, comedy writer, and filmmaker with a taste for the unspoken, Regan finds truth in laughter, heartbreak, and everything between. Once a therapist and now a psychologist and writing coach, Regan dissects the beautiful chaos of being alive—on the page, on stage, and on screen—turning human mess into narrative gold.
A playwright and singer-songwriter with a critic’s precision and a music buff’s obsession, Regan chases the pulse of every scene and the rhythm of every emotional beat. As a sex educator, intimacy director, and screenwriting instructor, they build stories that cut close to the skin—intimate, fearless, and impossible to forget.
Above all, Regan strives to create spaces where presence, art, and vulnerability meet, reminding us that every creative experience is, at its core, an invitation to life itself.
Regan has been writing books since before she could read them. A lifelong storyteller with a mythic imagination, she crafts novels that weave the intimate with the epic—stories where fantasy, science fiction, and contemporary realism blur at the edges.
Her young adult fiction explores transformation, identity, and the inner lives of characters standing at the crossroads of who they were and who they’re becoming.
In her adult work, Regan writes steamy, action-packed, character-driven mysteries, thrillers, and romances that celebrate complexity, vulnerability, and emotional intelligence.
Whether the setting is a galaxy away or a city street at midnight, Regan’s novels pulse with wit, heart, and an unflinching curiosity about what makes us human.
Regan’s background in psychology anchors their creative practice in a deep curiosity about what drives human behavior, connection, and desire.
Her work focuses on the intersections of sexuality, love, identity, and race—how we come to understand ourselves and others in the context of culture, representation, and power.
Trained in marriage and family therapy, Regan’s approach bridges clinical insight with artistic exploration. She examines how media—especially film and television—shapes our understanding of intimacy, attraction, and belonging.
These questions permeate their creative work, making their fiction and film as psychologically rich as they are emotionally resonant.
As a filmmaker, Regan is drawn to stories that balance heart and humor, intellect and impulse. Her writing and directing explore the fragile, funny, and profoundly human ways people connect—and disconnect—in love, family, and art.
Regan’s cinematic voice marries sharp dialogue with emotional authenticity, creating films that feel both deeply personal and universally relatable. She dreams of bringing more smart, wacky, heartfelt dramas to the big screen—films that linger in the mind, ache in the heart, and make you laugh through your tears.
Education is one of Regan’s great loves. She teaches creative writing and screenwriting at the college level, where she guides students toward the heart of their own creative voices.
In 2022, Regan founded the Regan Film Institute, an international screenwriting conservatory dedicated to making film school education accessible for all.
Beyond the classroom, Regan advocates for comprehensive sex education and for the reform of higher education curricula to include emotional literacy, creative freedom, and interdisciplinary study.
A lifelong learner, Regan sees teaching as a reciprocal act—a shared spark between curious minds. In every class, she aims to ignite that moment of recognition when a student discovers not just knowledge, but themselves.
Regan writes plays in the language of the past to speak to the heart of the present. Her theatrical work fuses Shakespearean lyricism with contemporary emotion, exploring love, longing, and the contradictions that define us.
Their debut play, What a Heart Loves, made local headlines for its deft fusion of humor, tenderness, and classical craft.
Regan’s musical works, by contrast, are quirky and heartfelt—original compositions that turn the dilemmas of the heart into songs for the stage. Whether in verse or melody, her plays reveal an artist attuned to both the grand sweep of human feeling and the delicate intricacies of everyday life.
Regan began coaching writers in 2018 and soon discovered a calling in guiding others through their creative journeys.
In 2020, they founded WriCo, a creative development studio dedicated to helping writers build courage, craft, and clarity.
In 2023, Regan developed Write Here, Write Now, a comprehensive drafting workshop for fiction and nonfiction writers to help build their stories from concept to completion.
Regan's coaching blends a psychologist’s insight with a storyteller’s intuition—helping writers untangle their creative process, confront internal resistance, and translate their ideas into fully realized works of art.
Music is Regan’s first language of emotion. They composed their first song as a child and have spent a lifetime translating feelings into sound. Their style blends soul, sophisti-pop, and alternative rock, infused with jazz sensibilities and the shimmering influence of Japanese and Korean musical aesthetics.
Regan’s debut demo, produced by Melodious Zach, is the subject of a forthcoming documentary set for release in 2026. In addition to writing and performing, Regan DJs under the moniker RMH FM, curating sonic experiences that explore mood, memory, her written work, and all the same subjects as her Substack.
For most of her life, Regan has written lyrics and composed melodies without the use of any musical instruments, but these days, she's learning piano, guitar, and Taiko. Instruments she dreams of mastering include the xylophone, the mbira, violin, ehru, gayagum, and the harp, ever eager to expand her scope of expression.
Raised by two creative parents, Regan grew up in a home where art was both language and lifeblood. Regan learned to move fluidly across disciplines—everything from theater, dance, and music to fashion, ceramics, photography, and flower arrangement—absorbing techniques and sensibilities that now inform their multidisciplinary artistry.
As a visual artist, Regan loves pen and ink illustration, comic book aesthetics, and mixed media collage. As a ceramist, they find meditation in clay; as a photographer, they chase the color and vastness of sky and sea. Their design work blends intuitive composition with bold visual storytelling, bridging the tactile and the digital, the intimate and the cosmic.
Regan’s academic journey is as diverse as their creative one. She's studied Creative Writing and English Poetics at the University of St Andrews, International Politics in South Korea, and International Business in Beijing.
She's earned degrees in Creative Writing, Arts, and Performance, Applied Psychology, and now pursues advanced study in Creative Writing and East Asian Languages and Literatures.
A polyglot and cultural scholar, Regan investigates storytelling traditions across China, Korea, and Japan—studying how language, myth, and emotion intertwine to shape collective consciousness.
Their work as both scholar and artist exemplifies an enduring belief: that every language offers a new way to see the world, and every story offers a new way to live in it.
